I was searching flickr to see if there were any mosaics about my latest grand obsession and couldn´t find anything.
So for those willing to try something different, how about a mosaic on the theme of…wait for it…… Judo!
Yes, the martial art. Whether it´s the kanji letters or a portrait of Jigoro Kano or a judoka wearing their judogi or something else judo related. Seems like ¨The Gentle Way¨ is not something that is often explored by mosaicists despite being the second most popular participant sport worldwide. If you need help on judo, go to the Judoinfo site.
Leave a link to a photo here and I´ll blog your work at the end of the month.
Sorry about dropping out of the blogosphere for a while. Life got busy and something had to go on the backburner. And I was feeling a little stale.
But having found a few more local mosaics, it is about time to make a reappearance…
WordPress has some amazing features for bloggers including a great stats page.
Here’s a bit of trivia about this site:
Those that have stumbled on this site by doing a search in the past 12 months have probably used the following terms:
There must be very little on the web about Vasarely!
The sites most likely to refer you here are:
I bet Chantal didn’t know what hit her when all the hits started coming in!
Most popular places to click to in the past 12 months:
Looks like the flickr pool widget was a good idea :).

Yes, I know it is January and Christmas is a good 11 months away. But if I think about doing this in September it will be way too late. So I will be aiming to make something every month.
So somebody will be getting a mosaic.
And I want to get some fancy schmancy recycled sari yarn because fancy yarns make even my knitting look good. At the moment I’m not doing any mosaicking as it’s a bit tricky with a baby, a 3 year old and a 6 year old. Although I did see some cool photo frames/plaques at Spotlight the other day that screamed “Mosaic me!”. Just have to work out how to do it.
Otherwise everyone will be getting trivets LOL.

What is it?
On October 15th – Blog Action Day, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind.
In its inaugural year, Blog Action Day will be co-ordinating bloggers to tackle the issue of the environment.
Anything goes so this is my chance to hit the archives…
If you are wondering why there haven’t been quite so many posts in the past week as usual, it’s because I’ve been busy with a non-mosaic production.
This is the latest addition to our family [Sara] who finally arrived 9 days late on September 11 but with a big rush at the end [less than 90 minute labour!]. 4.125 kg which is a tad over 9 lb which makes her my smallest baby.
So if my blogging is a little more erratic than before, here is your reason why!
Lisa Osgood Dano of Shangri-La Studio has recently started up a mosaics blog. She focuses on mosaic news and also glass art. Well worth a look!

WordPress have created drop-down menus so at last I can get rid of that unwieldy category list. It’s still there but it just doesn’t take up three quarters of the page.
There is also a new Top Clicks box on the left which allows you to see which links are getting clicked from this blog.
There is also a tag feature which I am trialling for now. Unfortunately I can’t limit the number of tags so makes the cloud look pretty big. It’s at the bottom of the right column while I decide if I like it or not. Tell me what you think about it.
Have a fun weekend!
A quick update. Between a family trip to Melbourne for a wedding [which went wonderfully] and the general chaos on returning home, and having my computer fail to start on my return [that’ll teach me for trying to do my bit for the planet and switch the thing off for a change], I’ve only got access to my blog at work :(. So I can post a little in advance but much less time is being spent on the thing for obvious reasons.
I’ll try to get my hard drive back running ASAP but this may be a great opportunity to actually DO some mosaics :). Or take photos of some more local ones…
Have a great weekend!
