Love the colours and the splendour of the golden mosaic here in the underground station of the poorest district in the whole of Sweden. The characters are the letters of the Old Runic Series. The runic alphabet is called “futhark” after the first six letters. TH is the single one-letter “thorn”.

Hillary is in the MFA/Ceramics program at The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Originally from Garden City, NY, Hillary Chisholm Sloate earned a B.S. in Art Education from Tufts Univ./School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
She has studied ceramics at Ghost Ranch, NM, and mosaics at the Orsoni workshop, Venice, Italy. Hillary exhibits nationwide and has taught at the Worcester Art Museum and College of the Holy Cross, MA. She is a member of the Tile Heritage Foundation, the Society of American Mosaic Artists, and the Washington Project for the Arts / Corcoran.
