Scarab

This is beautiful, a true micromosaic, from the 1880’s Egyptian revival period with the center image of an artfully wrought scarab in brilliant colors against a white ground. Measuring 2″ with the bale x 1 1/8″ wide. The metal is gilt silver, decorated with bits and bobbles in classic Etruscan design. The back has the original beveled crystal and frame and holds a bit of ivory watered silk.

  1. Isn’t that incredible! I’d be blind by the time I finished it! The work is so tiny, yet so very detailed. I am in awe!
