For those challenged by drawing a design, this could be a useful tool. I have a dragonfly photo that I would love to convert to a mosaic but getting the perspective right is currently beyond me.
Tile Creator would be worthwhile for anyone who does a lot of mosaic particularly if you want to convert your own photographic images.

Is much more interesting in Nambucca Heads. There is a 30 metre mosaic/sculpture that runs alongside the street just outside the Police Station.

I have to admit that I was surfing around flickr that I saw the thumbnail of this and went "What's Billy Connelly doing on a mosaic?".
Not quite the Big Yin, but a very detailed portrait. For an art that has rather less discretion with colour than the others, the artist has done a fantastic job.

A friend is a big fan of tulips which got me wondering if there was anything out there on flickr.
This has actually been done digitally rather than in actuality. I can see it being a good tool in the planning stages if you are trying to do something in real life.
I'm assuming that the painter program is Corel Painter which seems to be the gold standard at the moment.
Does anyone have any experience with this or other similar programs?
Anyone know of any good freeware tools to help with creating a mosaic design?
